WCMS's are reports required for development within the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment. The WCMS must meet WaterNSW criteria for a Neutral or Beneficial Effect (NorBE) on water quality, as required under the State Environmental Planning Policy (Sydney Drinking Water Catchment) 2011. The reports need to be supplied with a development application, with the details to be included depending on the type and scale of development. Typically these assessments will address:
The level of detail required depends on whether your development falls under Module 1, 2, 3 or 4. Once this has been established, can can prepare the report to meet the requirements. For example, a Conceptual Erosion and Sediment Control Plan is required for all new dwellings with construction area >250m2, MUSIC stormwater quality modelling and a Soil and Water Management Plan are required for all types of development with more than 2500m2 of impervious area.
These studies will be needed for sewered and un-sewered residential subdivisions (more than 4 lots), townhouse developments, extractive industries, car parks, commercial buildings and intensive agriculture and horticultural development where these impervious areas are exceeded.

For individual lots in proposed subdivision
Commercial developments like the one shown in the image, will require a Watercycle Management Study to demonstrate the required stormwater treatment. In the example shown storm water from the exterior hard stand surfaces needed to be treated by biotension basin, sediment basin and constructed wetlands. Where as the wash down water from the putresible waste management system required an anaerobic treatment system followed by constructed wetland.
A Water Cycle Management Study was prepared for a proposed prayer hall and cemetry with on-site wastewater management facilities.
With limited soil depth and available land, this project needed an Aerated Water Treatment System and 4 sand mounds.
